U.S. Tariffs “Retaliatory Taxes” - Trade and Tax Law Implications
The Chair for US-American Law and the Institute for Tax Law of the University of Cologne cordially invite you to an essential discussion on one of the most pressing issues in international trade and taxation.
Professor Dr. Johanna Hey and Dr. Philippe Matthew Roy are pleased to host Payne Griffin, former Deputy Chief of Staff for the US Trade Representative in the Trump Administration, for an in-depth exploration of current US tariff policy under President Trump. The discussion will examine the evolving landscape of trade law, including an important case currently pending before the Supreme Court regarding the legality of tariffs imposed by the Trump Administration on an emergency basis, as well as the growing phenomenon of retaliatory taxation and its implications for international economic relations.
This timely event offers a unique opportunity to gain insider perspectives on the mechanisms, legal challenges, and far-reaching consequences of contemporary trade policy from someone who served at the highest levels of US trade policy.
