Current Issues in U.S. Law

This course will focus on two main components: current important legal issues in the United States covering the fields of public, civil, constitutional and criminal law, among others. With regard to the second component, students will learn the fundamentals of legal research and legal writing in the United States. This will include research on databases such as Westlaw, and will cover the essential aspects of persuasive legal writing done in a practical format by drafting simulated legal writings such as legal memoranda, trial pleadings, briefs and the like.
